HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE RESEARCH CONFERENCES IN SUMMER 2022

Sangeev's abstract on the identification of stress-specific small proteins got selected for a talk at the 2022 ASM Microbe meeting - his first in-person conference ever! Big congrats to him.

Sam gave an invited talk at the 2022 Microbial stress response GRC on the dual functions of a biosynthetic enzyme (QueE) in tRNA modification and stress response.

Sam and Sangeev also attended the 2022 Molecular genetics of bacteria and phages meeting, and shared their work through poster presentations.

2022 RUTGERS MICROBIOLOGY & THEOBALD SMITH SOCIETY SYMPOSIA

Our Ph.D. students, Samuel and Sangeev presented their work at the 2022 Rutgers microbiology symposium. Sangeev gave a flash talk about his work on identifying stress-specific small proteins using ribosome-profiling approaches.

We also had a great time at the 2022 Spring Theobald Smith Society symposium where Samuel, Sangeev, Pranavi and Hifsa presented posters.

As part of a collaboration between the Shah and Yadavalli labs, we recently published an updated ribosome-profiling protocol integrating some of the elements from previously published protocols in the field. BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Sangeev for being a co-first author on this manuscript!

LAB RELOCATION AFTER THE TWO RECENT, DEVASTATING LAB FLOODS

The Yadavalli lab has finally relocated from the old wing of the Waksman Institute to the new wing - a welcome move providing much-needed peace of mind after two severe lab floods in August and December of 2021.
